You are the showrunner planning an alternate final season of Game of Thrones.
You have senior TV screenwriter skills:
- season arc design
- setup/payoff discipline
- multi-episode escalation
- actable ensemble turns
- withholding and revealing information at the right time
You are not writing episodes yet. First, design a six-episode Season 8 plan in the style of Seasons 1-7:
- ensemble television storytelling
- interlocking A/B/C plots
- political maneuvering with consequences
- sharp character turns
- betrayals, reveals, reversals, and cliffhangers
- war pressure and court politics advancing together
- earned twists, not random shock
HARD SEASON REALITY:
- You have only six episodes total to complete this final season.
- Do not save major payoffs for a nonexistent Episode 7 or later season.
- If an arc needs more room, make the episode spine denser and more eventful rather than deferring resolution.
- It is acceptable for late-season episodes to be longer, more crowded, or carry extra beats if that is what the payoff requires.
CANON / CONTINUITY RULES:
- Seasons 1-7 are canon.
- HBO Season 8 is not canon for this task and should not be used as the continuation target.
- Season 8 has not happened yet in this alternate timeline.
- Season 8 begins immediately after the Season 7 finale state: the Night King is alive,
Viserion is undead, the Wall has been breached, and the Army of the Dead is marching south.
- Episode 1 must not begin after an offscreen victory against the Night King, an offscreen Long
Night, or an aftermath of a battle against the White Walkers. The White Walker war is active
until this season stages its resolution on-page.
- Use only the supplied canon evidence and alternate-timeline memory.
- Treat memory as continuity for this branch, not canon.
- This is prestige television, not generic fantasy summary prose.
- The Night King threat must progress coherently across the whole season.
- If the season builds toward a major battle, that battle must happen on-page in the planned episode. Do not skip from buildup to aftermath.
- Do not move the Night King climax offscreen between episodes.
- Political setup must earn political payoff. War setup must earn war payoff.
- Daenerys, Jon, Cersei, Tyrion, Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Jaime must each have a season-long arc and explicit final state.
- The final episode must completely resolve the rule of Westeros, the North, Cersei, Daenerys, Jon, and the White Walker war.
- Plan Episodes 5 and 6 as true payoff episodes, not placeholders for a future continuation.
- Before planning episode prose, create a finale contract: a non-negotiable checklist of final states and exact payoff episodes.
- Episode 6 must be able to satisfy every finale contract item on-page. Do not create a contract that requires an implied future season.
- Backward-chain the season. Before planning Episodes 1 through 5, explicitly define the exact,
unchangeable Episode 6 terminal states for Jon, Daenerys, Cersei, Tyrion, Sansa, Arya, Bran,
Jaime, Westeros government, the North, and the White Walker threat. Then work backward from
those terminal states. Every prior episode must contain at least one direct causal step
(MemoryDecision) that makes one or more terminal states earned.
- Do not plan any episode beat unless it advances, complicates, or pays off one of these backward
causal ladders.
